041. What she had realized was that love was that moment when your heart was about to burst.

At some point on the morning of the second day she came to a terrifying realization. She had no idea how it had happened or how she was supposed to cope with it. She was in love for the first time in her life.

040. Camilla SalanderSubmitted by:  lisbeth——salander

Her mother had been short and thin, but nowhere near as anorexic-looking as Salander. In fact, her mother had been downright beautiful, and had a lovely figure. Just like Salander’s sister, Camilla.
Salander did not want to think about her sister.
For Salander it was an irony of fate that she and her sister were so dramatically dissimilar. They were twins, born within twenty minutes of each other.
Lisbeth was first. Camilla was beautiful.

“…The report is 193 pages long, but 120 pages are copies of articles he wrote or press clippings. Blomkvist is a public person with few secrets and not very much to hide.”
“But he does have some secrets?” Frode said.
“Everyone has secrets,” she replied neutrally. “It’s just a matter of finding out what they are.”
“Let’s here.”

“…Somehow she managed to survive and dig herself out and—”
“And somehow get back to the farm and swing an axe into Zalachenko’s skull,” Blomkvist finished for him. “She can be a moody bitch.”
“But how on earth did she handle Niedermann?”
Blomkvist shrugged. He was as bewildered as Erlander on that score.

032. I Can Be A Regular Bitch. Just Try Me.

Blomkvist was still in the garden when he was roused by the rattle of the motorcycle crossing the bridge and saw Salander riding towards the cottage. She put her bike on its stand and took off her helmet. She came up to the garden table and felt the coffeepot, which was empty and cold. Blomkvist stood up, gazing at her in surprise. She took the coffeepot and went into the kitchen. When she came back she had taken off her leathers and sat down in jeans and a t-shirt with the slogan I CAN BE A REGULAR BITCH. JUST TRY ME.

031. Mikael’s definition of friendshipSubmitted by: madaohasmadcow

“Lisbeth, can you define the word friendship for me?”
“It’s when you like somebody.”
“Sure, but what is it that makes you like somebody?”
She shrugged.
“Friendship - my definition - is built on two things,” he said. “Respect and trust. Both elements have to be there. And it has to be mutual. You can have respect for someone, but if you don’t have trust, the friendship will crumble.”
She was still silent.
“I understand that you don’t want to discuss yourself with me, but someday you’re going to have to decide whether you trust me or not. I want us to be friends, but I can’t do it all by myself.”
